Laundry Powder
Makes 840g
What you'll need:
- 250 g Baking Soda
- 165 g Castile Soap (grated)
- 250 g Washing Soda
- 115 g Epsom Salt
- 60 g Table Salt
- Up to 20 drops of essential oil – we have used a blend of Lemon for its powerful stain remover and antibacterial properties, and Lavender for its antiseptic, antiviral, calming effect.
Directions:
- Grate/finely chop the castile soap
- Combine all of the dry ingredients in a food processor and blend until fine (if you don’t have a blender or food processor place all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk vigorously), the finer the better!
- Add your selection of essential oils.
- Mix again until essential oils are evenly distributed Pour into your airtight container.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons to your washing machine per load.
Fabric Softener
Makes 475ml
What you'll need:
- 200 ml vinegar
- 25 ml vegetable glycerin
- 200 ml distilled water
- Up to 10 drops of essential oil
Directions:
- Combine white vinegar and glycerine in a glass jar.
- Add essential oils, if desired, and shake to combine.
- Top up the bottle with distilled water. Shake again to combine.
- Add 2 tablespoons to the fabric softener dispenser of your washing machine or add to the rinse cycle.
Wool Dryer Ball
What you'll need:
- 1 x ball of 100% wool
- Pantyhose
Directions:
- Wrap wool around two of your fingers 10 times.
- Remove the wool from your fingers and wrap more wool around the middle in a cross shape 10 times.
- Continue wrapping around the wool from every angle, wrapping 5-10 times before moving to a new angle.
- When your ball is the size of a tennis ball, cut the end and pull it through the ball with your crochet hook.
- Repeat until you have finished your ball of wool.
- Place your wool balls in the pantyhose, knotting the pantyhose between the balls and run through the wash and dry cycle until they become solid balls - approximately 4 cycles.
- Remove from pantyhose and add 5 drops of essential oil to each ball (if using)
- To use, place in the dryer instead of dryer sheets.
